Project Overview

With the rise of the opioid epidemic, efforts to help patients recover have resulted in a drastic increase in addiction treatment providers. Understanding which provider to go to can be a challenge. To simplify the process of determining the location, service offering, and contact details of each provider, we partnered with the Montgomery County Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) to build a mobile application that helps connect patients with the right treatment and support facilities.

Understanding The Problem

Over the past several years, Ohio consistently ranks at or near the top of the nation for drug overdose related deaths. Our hometown of Dayton, OH has been hit especially hard by the opioid crisis.

One of the primary challenges we discovered was finding care for addiction or mental health services was not particularly easy. Prior to the app, those seeking help were given a paper print out of the providers, which was hard to understand, out of date, and difficult to distribute.

Immersing ourselves into the problem we began by performing an audit of each provider’s website, assessed other online tools for locating addiction and mental help support and spoke with members of the community including local law enforcement, EMTs, recovering addicts, and staff from treatment facilities.

GetHelpNow will help eliminate much of the guess work for law enforcement, EMS crews & others who are at the scene of an emergency

Looking Ahead

Thanks to our continued partnership with Montgomery County ADAMHS, we are actively adding new features to the app to continue to provide value and support to the community. We are also currently exploring plans to expand the application throughout Ohio to provide a consistent experience for locating addiction and mental health treatment providers.
